Play Theory

WJYT has adopted Play Theory as seen below, to improve and enhance our program.

PLAY THEORY

Happiness is a skill

BE 100% PRESENT

Life is composed of an unending string of current moments.  We exist only in the present. We forfeit the future by dwelling on the past. Attention to the current moment cultivates fuller experiences and increases success.  We must plan for the future and learn from the past but we are better served when we are fully present in each moment.

LET GO & PLAY

As demonstrated by children, play is a powerful tool for learning.  Play lowers the stakes and allows for greater risk taking. When we accept that mistakes are opportunities to learn we can be empowered by our past choices.  Being humble and teachable opens new ways of thinking that improve our life experience.

SAY YES AND!

Rather than blocking ideas and consequently opportunities, look for the part of every offer that can be agreed with and say yes, then add to it.  This principle builds energy and enthusiasm in relationships and groups. It is key to synergy.

LOOK OUTWARD

Thinking of others cultivates selflessness and improves our life experience.  When we are thinking of others, we are less concerned with our needs. This type of thoughtfulness develops a peace of mind in any situation we are involved in. While self focus cultivates fear and insecurity, focusing on how we can help others cultivates confidence and security. Following this principle cultivates generosity which is an essential component of joy.
